Training for Alumni of FES Youth Programmes:

"Developing Strategies for Effective Political Campaign"

To keep engaging the political active alumni of the past Youth Leadership Trainings, FES and You-Net decided to design a programme to sharpen their skills on conducting political campaigns, understanding political parties and party systems, party organisation and management and transferring the knowledge into their parties to help make them more democratic and stronger. The programme would also seek to deepen participants' understanding of various electoral systems in the world, the constitutional, legal, regulatory and institutional framework of Ghana's electoral system, and the role of stakeholders in election administration and management in Ghana.
The maiden training programme was held on the 12th and 13th July 2008 on the theme 'Developing Strategies for Effective Political Campaign', at the FES Conference Room. Participants gained an understanding of the key ingredients that should go into developing campaign strategies, media strategies and fund raising strategies. Participants' presentation skills were also sharpened through the mock presentations they staged and the feedback they received. The female participants were also inspired through the feedback provided by the female resource persons who are both accomplished public officers.
