How to Mainstream Development in the Multilateral

Trading System

As part of the side-events to mark the Twelfth Quadrennial Conference of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD XII) that took place in Accra, the FES in collaboration with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and CUTS International organised a one-day panel discussion on How to Mainstream Development in the Multilateral Trading System for persons who had accreditation to attend the UNCTAD conference. The activity highlighted the challenges in the multilateral trading system and how it had always been skewed in favour of the North. The discussion emphasised the need for development for more equitable international trade regime that takes into consideration the peculiar needs of the South. A publication on Mainstreaming Development in the WTO was launched.
